Sebastian Vettel takes pole in Australia

Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel took pole position at the Australian Grand Prix on Saturday with team mate Mark Webber joining him on the front row for his home race.

German Vettel, overall runner-up in the world championship last year, lapped the Albert Park circuit with a quickest time of one minute 23.919 for his second pole in two races this season.

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso will be third on the grid.

The 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton, who was booked by police for "improper" driving near the circuit on Friday evening, failed to reach the final phase of qualifying and will start 11th on the grid on Sunday.
