Vuvuzela, the African horn that has become synonymous with this year’s FIFA World Cup, has drawn the ire of many people across the world.

Many players have thrown brickbats at it complaining that its loud, distinctive and deafening monotone is causing hindrance to players who can’t even listen to the referee’s whistle.

It looks like city viewers too haven’t been impressed by the instrument. Some are even saying that people must be banned from taking it inside the stadium as it’s messing with the football viewing experience.

Actor Roshni Chopra says, “It is irritating and it has taken away a lot of fun from the game. This constant sound is creating problems for people to listen to the commentary and even causing problems for players on the field. Players have been very vocal about it and if something is not suiting the game, one should look at keeping it away. We want to see the game and root for our favourite stars to weave magic with their legs on the field.”

Actor Tanushree Dutta takes a more liberal approach. She says, “Seeing the match from the comfort of your house you cannot actually realise how loud the vuvuzela is. Though it sounds fine on TV, maybe it is a nuisance in the stadium as so many of them are being used at the same time.”

Meanwhile reality star Vindu Dara Singh is very direct about his discontentment. “Vuvuzela is lousy and should be banned. It is spoiling the entire fun as a hiss sound keeps emanating all the time.”

Actor Ashmit Patel adds, “I find it pretty annoying to hear even on TV. So, I can just imagine how terrible it must be in the stadium.”

However, TV actor Hussain Kuwajerwala has a different point of view, “I feel it’s in the spirit of the game and when there is such adrenaline rush during the matches, it goes well in hyping the atmosphere even more.”
