Legendary umpire Dickie Bird hospitalised following nose blood vessel burst

Legendary Test umpire Dickie Bird was rushed to a hospital for an emergency surgery after a blood vessel burst in his nose when he was in the bathroom.

Bird said he nearly choked on his blood, but assured his fans that he is improving now after spending nine days in the hospital.

"I nearly choked on the blood," the Daily Star quoted Bird, as saying.

I spent nine days in hospital but now I'm getting better," he added.
