A classy goal from striker Danko Lazovic in the 57th minute gave Serbia a 1-0 win over Northern Ireland in a lively friendly at Windsor Park on Saturday.

Lazovic, returning from a two-match suspension, steered the ball home past goalkeeper Maik Taylor from 12 metres after a darting run by winger Zoran Tosic and a clever dummy from midfielder Gojko Kacar.

Serbia dominated the first half and playmaker Zdravko Kuzmanovic came close with two long-range efforts either side of a swivelling shot by Irish winger Niall McGinn, which Bojan Isailovic kept out with an acrobatic save.

Tosic, who gave his markers a roasting on either flank, forced a good save from Taylor moments after Northern Ireland had a penalty appeal waved away at the other end.

Lazovic could have added another in the closing stages when he shot over the bar from inside the penalty box before David Healy missed the home team's best chance with a curling shot which sailed just wide of the far post.

Serbia, who qualified for next year''s World Cup finals in South Africa from Europe's Group Seven, tackle South Korea in another friendly in London at Craven Cottage on Wednesday.
