Shanthakumaran Sreesanth is ecstatic to have made a comeback to Indian Test squad for the tour of Sri Lanka early next month. “I am very happy. I was confident of making it to the Test side because I have done well in the last two Test series and hope to do well in the future too,” the Kerala speedster told DNA on Saturday.

The 27-year-old is looking forward to the Sri Lanka series to cement his place in the side. “This is an important series for me. I will try to do better. I will take things by the day instead of rushing into it. It is the best opportunity for me to seal my place in the side,” he added.

Sreesanth is looking forward to bowling with Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma. However, he doesn’t want to think about the competition among the pacers. “I enjoy bowling with Zaheer. You get to learn a lot from him. However, as far as competition is concerned, I just compete with myself and try to outdo myself,” said Sreesanth, who returned to international cricket with a fifer against Sri Lanka in the Kanpur Test last year.

Sreesanth said he has been working on his fitness and bowling at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. “I want to perform the way I did after coming back from that county stint (Warwickshire). I have been playing in local matches and working hard at the NCA. I have not only worked on my bowling but also batting. I am hoping to do well for my country,” he signed off.
