It was an evening to remember, as hundreds of fans came out to cheer their favourite Australian cricketer Brett Lee, as he performed live at the Majors with Lee concert in the city last week.

This wasn’t the first time the cricketer performed in the city and talking about his love for music he says, “Music is my second love. I have my own band — The White Shoe Theory, with my friend Mick Vawdon.  We love performing and writing songs. We did a tour in April and hope to tour again late in the year.  But right now, I am concentrating on cricket as music is my hobby.”

Lee, who had earlier collaborated with singer Asha Bhosle for a Hindi album, is game for any interesting collaborations that come his way.

“I would love to explore more opportunities on the musical front. I really enjoyed meeting and working with Asha Bhosle. When I have more time, I would love to bag more such opportunities.”

Considering that he sang a few words in Hindi the last time around, has he learnt more of the language now? “Oh, I am trying to learn Hindi I have learned few lines like, Aap Kaise hai, thoda thoda thoda, Jaldi Jaldi. I am not good with Hindi songs but I like to listen to the music in them — it’s really melodious!”

Besides music, the cricketer who always has women swooning over his good looks says that he is oblivious to the hype surrounding him. When asked about his huge female fan following and Indian women, Lee nonchalantly says, “Are you serious? I really adore Indian women — each one has her unique style and personality.”

Lee says that since his profession entails him to travel so much, he hardly has time to interact and meet anyone new. But one person he misses the most is his son, Preston. “I miss my family very much, particularly my son Preston.  We talk on a daily basis so I always keep up to date on what he’s doing and enjoying. I make sure that I don’t miss out,” says Lee.
