A stalker posed as footie ace Cristiano Ronaldo on Facebook to lure glamour models.

And the man pulled up such a convincing act that Sophie Reade, who has met and flirted with Real Madrid star, thought she was actually chatting with Ronaldo on the social networking site.

He even offered the 20-year-old Big Brother winner to meet him and revive their romance.

But when she spoke to him on the phone she discovered he wasn't the footballer.

Sophie is so afraid now that she doesn't even want to step out of her house alone.

The man, who has now deleted his Facebook profile, even tried to stalk another model who doesn't want to be named.

"The scary thing is he knows what I look like but I have absolutely no idea who he is. I haven't been out by myself since it all happened," the Daily Star quoted a terrified Sophie, as saying.

She went on: "I was on the Tube the other day and this guy kept staring at me and I kept thinking to myself, is it him?

"The guy on Facebook knew so many things about me. He'd also done his research on Cristiano.

"I just don't understand why someone would do something like this, it's sick.

"I've spoken to my brother, who is a policeman, and he's told me I have a duty to report him to the police. I've been lucky but if he was to contact someone a lot younger than me, like an impressionable teenage girl, who knows what might happen? She might be tempted to meet him."

The stalker first contacted Sophie last October using the name Cristiano Aveiro - Ronaldo's real name. The two chatted often and earlier this month he gave her his mobile number.

But when Sophie called up on the number there was no international dialling tone.

"I thought it was odd that the dialling tone sounded like a UK one. Usually when you phone people in Spain you can tell they're abroad. But when he spoke he sounded just like Cristiano, so I wasn't sure," she said.

Sophie added: "I've met Cristiano so didn't think it was at all weird he should contact me. He asked me lots of questions and reminded me we'd met before. It was then that I knew he wasn't the real Cristiano.

"I just don't understand why he would go to so much trouble. He's clearly sick in the head. I rang my phone company to see if they could trace the number.

"They did and told me he was calling from London. I live in London now so every time I go out I'm petrified."

The other model said: "He started contacting me on Facebook. He was so persistent. I've now de-activated my account to stop him contacting me. Everyone should be aware of this man."
