New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori has been named the country’s cricketer of the year for the fourth time at New Zealand Cricket (NZC)’s annual awards function in Auckland.

In the 2009-10 season, Vettori hit 742 Test runs at an average of 49.46, 398 ODI runs at 30.61 and 120 Twenty20 runs at 24.00, Stuff.co.nz reports.

His spin bowling returned 32 Test wickets at 36.75, 27 ODI wickets at 20.29 and 10 Twenty20 wickets at 22.80.

The 31-year-old was also named New Zealand’s best first-class bowler and best ODI bowler.

Speaking about the talented all-rounder, NZC chief executive Justin Vaughan said that he deserves the honor after another memorable year.

“Daniel is, and has been, a consistently excellent performer for New Zealand over a long period and his fourth Player of the Year award is a reflection of his hard work and dedication,” Vaughan said.

Bert Sutcliffe Medal (outstanding services to cricket): Martin Horton.

Young player of year: Matthew Rowe (Christchurch Boys’ High School).

Domestic player of year (men): Michael Bates.

Domestic player of year (women): Nicola Browne.

Player of year: Daniel Vettori.
