Colors channel has sent a legal notice to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) alleging breach of agreement following BCCI’s refusal to release its cricketers to the proposed Khatron ke Khiladi programme.

About 13 cricketers, including 11 Indians, were to take part in the programme — based on famous AXN programme Fear Factor — but the BCCI refused to give permission to the players stating that they are bound by contract not to undertake any adventures that could lead to their injuries.

As the programme is famous for, the players would have had to exhibit daredevil stunts in the programme that was to be hosted by actor Priyanka Chopra. The notice was sent about a couple of days back and the board sources confirmed receiving it.

It is learnt that Lalit Modi, the suspended chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), had committed on behalf of the BCCI to ensure participation of players like Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, S Sreesanth, Gautam Gambhir and Harbhajan Singh in the programme.

The BCCI turned down the proposal after Modi’s suspension.

Australian cricketers like Brett Lee and Adam Gilchrist were also to take part in it.

Before the IPL 3 started, the channel and Board had agreed for four ‘properties’ — IPL Rockstars, IPL Nights, IPL Awards and the Khatron Ke Khiladi — for which the channel would have paid the BCCI an undisclosed amount.

Following the Khiladi episode, the channel, it is learnt, may refuse to honour its side of the commitment too. ‘’We have received a notice. But it’s not a big thing for us. It may be for the media,” said a Board official. The channel officials were not available for comment.
