Veteran Indian batsman VVS Laxman hopes Australia will target him during the Boxing Day Test, saying that this is the secret to his success against the Baggy Green.

Laxman missed out with 15 in the practice match against the Chairman's XI in Canberra, but is ready to score big in the first Test at the MCG against an opponent he has dominated with 2279 Test runs at 55.59.

"It is strange that right from my under-19 days I have done well against the Australians," said Laxman, 37.

"Probably their aggressive nature gets the best out of me. From the wickets point of view, I have always enjoyed batting (in Australia) because I like wickets with a lot of bounce and pace," he said.

In 25 Tests against the Australians, Laxman averages 55.58, and that includes his epic innings of 281 scored at Kolkata in March 2001 that inspired India to a famous victory after following on.

In his 11 Tests in Australia, Laxman has scored four memorable centuries, including three (167, 178 and 109) at the SCG.
