Ahmedabad shines in state TT tourney

Top seed Ashal Shah began his junior boys' campaign at the Second Open Gujarat Table Tennis Championship at Bhavnagar in style, on Thursday. The paddler entered the third round with ease at Shri Krushnakumarsinhji Townhall.

Showing his class, Ashal trounced Aniket Thakkar in straight games 11-7, 11-6, 11-7 in the second round. Joining him was third seed Vedant Joshi of Vadodara. Vedant edged past Projan Khakkhar of Rajkot 11-6, 11-9, 11-9.

Two more Amdavadis, Henil Shah and Nayan Ravani battled their way into the third round. Nayan defeated Dhaval Karia, while Henil got better of Shaumil Shah.
