At WWE's Summerslam event last month, former MMA wrestler and current part time WWE superstar Brock Lesnar defeated John Cena in what was basically an extended squash match. Following this, a rematch between the two is scheduled for the Night of Champions event on September 21. According to reports, John Cena may win the rematch, but he will not leave with the championship.

There are two outcomes being discussed by WWE's Creative team for the clash between Cena and Lesnar. The first is to have Lesnar beat Cena through outside interference. The superstar who will cause the interference has not been decided.

The second scenario is more interesting. According to it, John Cena will beat Brock Lesnar, but will not leave with the championship. Instead, Money in the Bank winner and former member of the Shield faction, Seth Rollins, will cash in his contract to take the title from Cena after the latter's match with Brock Lesnar.

This scenario was foreshadowed on WWE Raw this week when John Cena put Seth Rollins through a table to end the show. The ending might provide reason for Rollins to exact revenge on Cena.

This news however might come as a disappointment to a section of WWE fans who would want to see Cena get beaten again by Brock Lesnar. Lesnar has been booked as an unstoppable monster, ending the Undertaker's Wrestlemania streak of 21-0 and then beating the company's biggest star John Cena in a squash match. If Lesnar loses to Cena at Night of Champions, many might view it as WWE's inability to move beyond Cena for the purpose of keeping the underage fanbase happy.

The original plan for Wrestlemania 31 in 2015 involves Brock Lesnar defending his championship against ex-Shield member Roman Reigns.
