Williams sisters storm into second round of Australian Open

The Williams sisters kicked off their Australian Open campaign with a convincing straight-sets victory over their respective rivals to stroll into the second round of the first grand slam of the year in Melbourne.

While top-seed Serena defeated her Belgian opponent Alison Van Uytvanck with a 6-0, 6-4 straight sets victory, Venus stormed into the next round with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Spaniard Maria Torro-Flor.

Moreover, Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova outclassed Netherlands' Richel Hogenkamp 6-1, 6-4 in the opening match of the tournament.
