Jimmy owes his ‘Fortune’ to the Narredu family. Rajesh Narredu, R Anantha Cham Raju, R Cham Devraju and R Rajamma are the owners of Super Storm and Satish Narredu, the trainer.

The Narredus were not so lucky in the previous derby editions. As Jimmy Fortune anchored Super Storm to a stunning win in the derby’s 18th edition, an overjoyed Satish Narredu said, “This is something I’ll cherish all my life.” Satish told this paper that he always had a “strong feeling” about Super Storm. When Fortune agreed to join them, he somehow sensed that something special was in the offing. “I would say Jimmy brought us the fortune. He has been outstanding and deserves due credit,” he said, eyes welled up.

Fortune was lavish in praise of Super Storm. “He is wonderful. In my 11 years of riding, I have never come across such a colt who, despite being at a distance from the early leaders, managed to win,” he said.

“It is amazing to stand here at the race course. I never thought I would come in so early,” said R Rajamma who worked as a computer operator at the Bangalore Turf Club for 10 years.
“Hard work never goes waste, and this trophy will find a special place in the showcase,” he said after Super Storm’s victory lap.
