Some of the Rajasthan Royals players, including Ajinkya Rahane, visited the Siddhivinayak Temple here on Thursday afternoon. The Indian Test star said that apart from seeking blessings ahead of their game, they also prayed for people of quake-hit Nepal.

It didn't matter if the players had just landed in the city from Bengaluru, it didn't matter if the heat was close to unbearable, it didn't matter if the hundreds of devotees replaced their 'aarti ki thalis' with mobile phones for a quick photo of the players. Rahane & Co. offered prayers for a couple of minutes.

"I visit the Siddhivinayak Temple whenever I'm in Mumbai. Mein kaafi manta hu. But this time, I asked my team members to join me and seek blessings before we start playing our matches at home (one at the Wankhede on Friday and three at the CCI)," said Rahane, who had for company Dhawal Kulkarni, Pravin Tambe, Karun Nair, Abhishek Nayar, Rajat Bhatia and a few others.

Other than praying for his team's victory in the upcoming matches, Rahane said they also had the victims of the quake-hit Nepal in mind.

"We all prayed for them. We were all very shocked with what happened in Nepal. Whatever matches the Rajasthan Royals play from now on, we will play for the Nepal victims. We want to win it for them," Rahane said.

After five straight wins, the Royals had to suffer two losses and two washouts.

"Look, in T20 cricket, close games can go either ways. You win some and lose some, but it's important that we play good cricket. So we prayed that we play good cricket as a team, and the results will take care of itself," Rahane said.

With 323 runs so far, Rahane has had the Orange Cap on his head for quite a while now, and seems in no mood to part ways with.

"Personally, I'm very happy with my performance so far. But for me, the team's victory matters more. So if my team wins and I perform, I'm the happiest. I hope I continue with my performance in the coming matches and help my team win," he said.
