“I was there for Barca’s 5-0 win over Real Madrid and was left with a similar facial expression right after it as they have now. Surely, Barcelona are finished now,” these were Angel Di Maria's words after Paris Saint Germain's 4-0 thrashing of Barcelona at the Parc des Princes in the first leg of the round of 16 Champions League tie.

No team in history had ever overturned that big a deficit in the return leg, but Barcelona took the football world by storm on Wednesday with a miraculous 6-1 drubbing of the French outfit.

Although Luis Enrique's men raced to a 3-0 lead at the 50th-minute mark, PSG striker Edinson Cavani struck a stunning volley to silence the home fans in the 62nd minute. Former Real Madrid man, Di Maria was awestruck by the goal and was confident that the strike was enough to steer his side through. He put a finger on his lips and gestured the home fans to shut up. However, karma struck back at the Argentine later when he squandered an one-on-one and then Barca scored three goals in the last seven minutes to clinch an improbable quarter-final berth.

Barcelona's incredible turnaround at the Camp Nou must have given the Argentine winger a bitter taste. Hopefully, Di Maria will remember the proverb 'Don't sell the skin before you've caught the bear' the next time he faces the Blaugranas.
