Brian Lara, arguably the most stylish batsman to ever grace a cricket field, was in Hyderabad on Saturday playing a relaxing session of golf.

On the sidelines, the legend spoke to TOI about how highly he rates Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

"Kohli is one of the best batsmen in contemporary cricket and has his own style of batting. I am not the kind to rate players or compare him with anyone. Even in captaincy, he has his own style, which is proving to be very effective," said the West Indian, who played 131 Tests and smashed 11,953 runs in his illustrious career.

Kohli, India's captain in all formats, has had a phenomenal couple of seasons with the bat. The right-hander is hailed by many as the numero uno batsman in the current generation.

Lara, though, was prompt in remembering his arch rival and now dear friend Sachin Tendulkar's contribution to Indian cricket.

"One should remember the impetus provided by the great Sachin (Tendulkar) while at his peak. He passed on a rich legacy to highly talented youngsters and they are ready to take on the world now," concluded Lara.
