In another first to its credit, Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) will become the first state association to hold elections onNovember 13 as per the recommendations of Justice RM Lodha Committee recommendations. VCA has also informed the commission regarding the same and has called a special general meeting on the same day to hold the elections. Retired Justice KJ Rohee has been appointed as the election officer. The nomination forms will be available from November 5 and the last date for submission is November 7, it has been announced.

The VCA became the first cricket association in India to adopt the Supreme Court reforms during its meeting on September 30. A resolution to this effect was accepted almost by everyone, as only three voted against the proposal out of a total of 730 members present during the SGM.

The November 13 SGM will also appoint VCA's representative for Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) meetings till 2019, apart from the election of new office-bearers, executive committee members and the panel of selectors.

Going by the SC directives, VCA will now elect a new body that will have a president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, treasurer, five executive members and one member from the clubs.

Most of the current administration in VCA, on account of either cooling off period or nine-year total term, are not eligible to contest the elections. In all likelihood, current vice-president and son of ICC chairman Shashank Manohar, Adwait, is favourite to be elected as the next president.

Despite the fact that VCA has always remained a strong bastion of the Manohar camp, a lot of new faces could make an entry into the association for the first time. The SC has earlier directed the BCCI to stop payments to its associations until they adopt the Lodha Committee recommendations. VCA and Tripura Cricket Association are the only two full members that have implemented the Lodha panel recommendations. Whereas Hyderabad has also reportedly informed a lower court in the state about its intent for the same.
