The debate to find out who is the best footballer in the world is one that can never find a conclusion. With such deep emotions invested by millions of fans all over the world, one can never say for sure who that one player is. FIFA, though, decided to put an end to all the drama and launched an all new award called 'The Best'.

Here's all that you need to know about this award, which will make its debut on Monday night:

What are these awards all about?

France Football conducted the Ballon d'Or from 1956 until 2009 before merging with FIFA's World Player of the Year for the 2010 edition. After six increasingly successful years, Gianni Infantino, FIFA's new president after Sepp Blatter's unceremonious exit, decided to do away with the collaboration and introduced 'The Best' award ceremony which will be held in January each year. As the name suggests, these awards will honour the best footballers and coaches of the year.

Where are the awards being held?

At FIFA's headquarters - Zurich, Switzerland

What time will they commence?

11 pm (IST - Monday)

Who all are running for the best player award?

There were 23 men short-listed by FIFA, out which Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann have made the cut.

How will the winners be decided?

The winners will be decided by a combination of factors: 50 per cent of the vote is decided by votes by captains and coaches of every national team and 50% will be split by online voters and selected international journalists.
