The Indian cricket team which is readying itself to tour Bangladesh soon will have to undergo a compulsary fitness test before leaving on June 6, say reports from the 'Indian Express'.

Though it may come as  a surprising development, still this is a very rare instance that the entire squad is being asked to undertake tests in a very long time. The team assembles in Kolkata on June 5 and will leave for Dhaka on June 7 for a one-off Test and three ODI series, commencing after three days. BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur confirmed that the test was just a precautionary measure against last minute player breakdowns or injuries.

Ravindra Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were the most recent casualtie during India's sojourn Down Under prior to the 2015 World Cup, thanks to shoulder and ankle injuries respectively. Even Ishant Sharma, who injured his knee in the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne missed the final game of the series but was fot for a tri-series fixture on a later date.

But ironically Ishant failed a last minute fitness Test ahead of the World Cup, prompting selectors to pick Mohit Sharma in the squad. Also Ishant had a 'sore leg' during the Lord's test win for India and such injuries may be the reason for the BCCI to organize such a fitness test.

Also Team India players who featured in the recently concluded IPL did not have their fitness levels monitored by either the Indian team support staff or the National Cricket Academy. BCCI is going head on to make sure that they have a correct assessment of every player before the start of the Bangladesh tour.

IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla said to reporters that players who were 'fatigued' or 'unfit' must immediately report to the BCCI secretary to avoid any last-minute withdrawals.
