Joining the elite list of cricketers, former India captain Sourav Ganguly selected his all-time XI and surprisingly left out some of his legendary colleagues from the star-studded squad. Only two Indians feature in the team which comprises of four Australians, two Sri Lankans, two Proteas and one English cricketer.

The current Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President, decided to go with an opening combination of Matthew Hayden and Alastair Cook while saying that he was tempted to select Virender Sehwag but chose Cook because the Englishman has huge volumes of runs under his belt at a very young age.

Next up is the ever-so-dependable Rahul Dravid, followed by Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis, Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara and most successful captain of the world, Ricky Ponting. Ganguly noted that the fact that he took Ponting's name after six cricketers, doesn't mean that the Australian should come in after the dismissal of five batsmen and that he can bat anywhere and lead the team. It can be noted that VVS Laxman, who helped India to a series of crucial victories on testing pitches, missed out on a middle-order slot.

The left-hander went in with a four-man bowling attack, comprising of one of the best quicks of the generation, Glenn McGrath and the deadly Dale Steyn. The last two spots are occupied by arguably the best spinners to have ever played the game - Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan, while veteran Indian spinner Anil Kumble, misses out.
