Johannesburg: Retired South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis will reportedly be recalled back to the one-day international squad for the tour to Sri Lanka in July.
Kallis has made his intentions clear that he wants to play in next year's Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
According to Sport24, Cricket South Africa's (CSA) convener of selectors, Andrew Hudson said the Sri Lanka series could be Kallis' chance to stake a claim, although he added that from a selectors perspective, the player is no certainty for the World Cup.
However, Hudson also said that CSA would like to see Kallis to perform in the tournament, as there are around 25 ODIs before the World Cup for the all-rounder to prove himself.
Hudson further said that Kallis is no ordinary cricketer and, whatever the format, he brings balance to the team, adding that a batting all-rounder is rather unusual in today's game.
South Africa's tour of Sri Lanka comprises three ODIs and two Tests, the report added.
