Rape accused footballer Ched Evans offered contract at Maltese club Hibernians

Convicted rapist and former Sheffield United striker Ched Evans has been offered a contract by Maltese football team the Hibernians.

Stephen Vaughan, club vice-president, said that they were looking to secure the services of a 'top striker' and Ched fits the bill, adding that they had spoken to his agent and had offered a deal from then until the season, the Independent reported. The Hibernians are currently at the top of their domestic league with 15 points.

Evans, who scored 42 goals for Sheffield United, was released from prison in October after completing half of a five-year sentence for the rape of a 19-year-old woman in a hotel room in 2011.

The latest development occurred after most of the clubs refused to include Evans in their team, with the latest being Tranmere Rovers and Sheffield United.
