Two days after Arjuna awardee Deepa Malik complained that Prime Minister did not meet, or wish any of the Paralympians in his monthly radio address, Narendra Modi on Thursday said that people of India will be enthusiastically cheering for our athletes.

Taking to micro-blogging site, Modi said, "The people of India will be enthusiastically cheering for our athletes representing India at the Rio 2016 Paralympics, starting 7th Sept."

"We all wish our contingent for the Rio 2016 Paralympics the very best. I am sure our athletes will give their best & make us proud." he added

Deepa, 46, holds 58 state and national level honours, 17 international awards and has broken two Asian world records for javelin. The limca record holder had reportedly said on Tuesday, "The Prime Minister hasn't mentioned us in his Mann ki Baat or anywhere, whereas he met all the able-bodied Olympic participants. Even the Sports Minister hasn't met us."
