P Kashyap loses on day he gets to best ranking

On a day he achieved a career-best ranking of seven, P Kashyap was in for a shock. The 26-year-old Indian shuttler went down in three games to World No 18 Wei Feng Chong of Malaysia in the third round of the Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold in Basel on Thursday. The Hyderabadi lost 21-18 7-21 16-21 in 55 minutes. This was Kashyap’s third loss to the Malaysian in as many encounters.

Meanwhile, HS Prannoy’s march was halted by 15th seed Tien Chen Chou of Chinese Taipei. Saina Nehwal, on the day, regained her second rank in the list released by Badminton World Federation.
