Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju flagged off the expedition in a simple ceremony in the presence of officials of the tourism department.
Arunachalee Everester Anshu Jamsenpa is all set to create a Guinness record by attempting to make double ascent of the world's highest peak Mount Everest in less than 10 days in her expedition for the fourth time, which was flagged off here today.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju flagged off the expedition in a simple ceremony in the presence of officials of the tourism department. The 35-year-old Anshu, who holds the world record of climbing the Everest thrice, is set to break her own record and attempting to ascend the world highest peak twice within a span of 7 days.
She achieved her earlier world record in 2011 when she climbed the Everest twice in a span of ten days. Last May she created another mountaineering record by scaling three Himalayan peaks - Lobuche (6119 mtr), Pokalde (5896 mtr) and Island (6189 mtr) - in just six days.

Talking to reporters Anshi revealed that she would reach the base camp at Nepal on April 9 and hopefully complete here summit by the second week of May. "Through mountaineering one can learn about environment and disaster management. We need full concentration during such expedition as by a single mistake one can cost her life.
Through such extreme adventure sports, leadership quality develops," she said. "Conquering heights and climbing mountains have taught me a lot on environment and discipline," Anshu, who hails from Bomdila in West Kameng district, said. Her expedition would cost an amount of Rs 35 lakh out of which the state government has sanctioned Rs 4 lakh.
Hyderabad-based production house CCMPL, who is keen to produce a film on Anshu, is donating an amount of 10 lakh. Rijiju assured to provide the balance amount for her expedition. On her future plan she said "I want to do something for the youths and women and planning to start my own academy in the future."
Anshu, who is the proud mother of two daughters – Passang Droma (14) and Tenzing Nyidden (10), said that she wanted her daughters to follow her steps. "My elder daughter is undergoing training on adventure sport," she said.
