The son and father Paes duo will be felicitated by the All India Tennis Association (AITA) here in December for their services to Indian tennis.
Leander Paes, who at 40 recently clinched the US Open men's doubles title, will be honoured together with his father Vece, who tended Indian Davis Cup teams as a doctor.
Vece is former hockey player who was member of the bronze medal winning national squad at the 1972 Munich Olympics.
"A decision has been taken to felicitate a few Indian greats who have served Indian tennis selflessly. One of IndiaÂ’s greatest sportsperson who continues to make the country proud, Leander Paes would be felicitated," AITA Coaches Committee chairman Suman Kapur said in a statement on Thursday.
"Others who have served Indian Davis Cup for many years like S.P. Mishra (former Indian Davis Cup captain), Dr Vece Paes (Indian Davis Cup team doctor), Nandan Bal (former Indian Davis cup coach) would also be honoured during the conference," added the statement.
The felicitation will be held during AITA's seventh National Coaches Conference at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA) Complex here Dec 19-22.
