ISL 2014: Struggling Delhi take on NorthEast United in must-win tie

Faced with a daunting task of qualifying for the semifinals after a series of listless performances, bottom-placed Delhi Dynamos take on NorthEast United FC in their must-win Hero Indian Super League fixture in Guwahati on Sunday.

Delhi have won just one match out of nine they have played so far and a loss tomorrow will virtually ruled them out of contention for a semifinal berth. Harm Van Veldhoven's side have suffered four losses in their last five matches and they have not won after their third league game at home against Chennaiyin FC way back on October 25 and they are now at the bottom of the league standings with seven points.

It will be a tough task for Delhi to get the better of NorthEast United in front of their vociferous home crowd at the Indira Gandhi Stadium on Monday. Delhi marquee player Alessandro del Piero has been far from impressive though he played his best match in Delhi's 0-1 loss to Kerala Blasters in their last match on November 16 at home. It remains to be seen if the Italian legend can bring a turnaround in his struggling form and help his team in the competition.

NorthEast United are also struggling off late but they will hope to jump to the fourth spot in the standings with a win against Delhi on Monday. NorthEast United are currently just above Delhi with 10 points from nine matches but such is the intense competition in the league that a victory for the hosts will see them move ahead of three teams in the league table.

NorthEast are coming into the match after their 0-1 loss against Atletico de Kolkata away at Kolkata. Prior to that, they could only manage three draws and a defeat, including a 0-0 draw against Delhi Dynamos.

They will be determined to end their five-match winless run and bring their ISL campaign back on track.
