India at seventh spot in ICC Test Rankings

Latest Test rankings released by the ICC show India placed at a disappointing seventh with 93 points - a rank under islanders Sri Lanka, who have the sixth spot with 96 points. World Cup finalists New Zealand have occupied the fifth spot with 99 points whereas South Africa are table toppers with 124 points.

Latest Test rankings released by the ICC show India placed at a disappointing seventh with 93 points - a rank under islanders Sri Lanka, who have the sixth spot with 96 points. World Cup finalists New Zealand have occupied the fifth spot with 99 points whereas South Africa are table toppers with 124 points.

Virat Kohli-led Team India despite having a good run at the recently concluded megaevent by reaching the semifinal are now in seventh position in the ten-team table as far as the longer format of the game is concerned. 

Second finalists of the Trans-Tasman tie at the World Cup Australia are in second place with 119 points while England and Pakistan are going neck-to-neck at 104 and 103 points respectively.

After India lost the series 2-0 against Australia in the four match series, Indian batsman failed to make it to the Top-10 Test rankings even though test skipper Virat Kohli slammed four centuries in the series.

Similar was the plight of Indian bowlers, who failed to break in the Top-10. Barring Ravichandran Ashwin who at No. 3 rank is the only Indian on the all-rounder's list after Shakib Al Hasan and Vernon Philander.
