In view of cash crunch on account of rationing of currency notes by banks, Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) is trying to organise next month's ODI match between India and England limiting cash transactions and encouraging digital mode of payment. The state cricket body will also provide viewers with an option to buy tickets using debit/credit cards at the counters and expects to sell 25 per cent of the tickets online.

"Although we cannot go completely cashless, an attempt will be made to use less cash. Payment through online, cheques, drafts and through e-wallets will be encouraged by the Association," OCA Secretary Asirbad Behera said on Sunday.

He said all bills above Rs 500 would be paid using digital modes of transaction by the Association. He said the ticket counters for the match would be equipped with POS machines and people can purchase tickets by swiping cards. "Around 25 per cent of the tickets this time will be sold online," Behera said, adding the shortage of cash will not deter cricket lovers from watching the match.
