Virat Kohli surpassed all his legendary seniors by scoring an unprecedented double century on foreign soil on Friday and former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly can stop praising the current Test skipper.

Ganguly had also set the tone for the 2003-04 Test series against Australia by scoring a magical 144 in Brisbane but he felt that Kohli's and his innings are miles apart. "I did not get a double hundred so this is different. He has scored a double hundred in the very first Test. It helps when the captain gets a hundred in the first Test of a series, it sets the tone, it actually sends a message to  the dressing room that listen if I can get it then the rest can as well," Ganguly was quoted as saying by India Today.

Kohli, whose aggressive and colourful century celebrations are part of the cricketing folklore, was somewhat sedate after scoring his maiden double ton. He went down to the ground and kissed the pitch while acknowledging the applause of the crowd. Ganguly finds dedication in whatever the poster boy of Indian cricket does on the field.

"He (Kohli) is a passionate person, he loves this game, loves to be on the winning team and he loves giving kisses on the cricket ground. It doesn't matter where he does it, whether it is on the pitch or his bat or whether it is for his fellow teammates, he wears his heart on his sleeve. He is a terrific advertisement for the game and he is the future of Indian cricket," said Ganguly.

The CAB President was also impressed with the rate at which Kohli went about his business. Drawing comparisons with Virender Sehwag, Ganguly said that it always helps a team when a batsman scores at a fast pace but felt that Kohli didn't aim at scoring quickly, instead he just kept playing and the runs kept on coming.
