Former England Test international Andrew Flintoff has recalled his experience with lions when he was dropped into the wilderness in Africa for a documentary.

Flintoff claimed that he was 'dropped off alone' in Botswana, and he 'loved it'. He said that some people go out there to 'find themselves'. Flintoff, who now plays for county cricket club Lancashire, revealed that he 'just wanted to find animals', as he 'loves them', Fox News reported.

The former England skipper claimed that he saw giraffes in the wild from his tent and elephants walking past 20-metre away. Then he claimed that on the second last night he built a massive fire to keep the lions away but two came and sat next to him and admitted that he 'froze' in his tent. The cricketer claimed that the only other time he had ever frozen like that was at Lord's in 2005 when he went out to bat.

Flintoff made his Test debut for England in July 1998 against South Africa and went on to play 79 Tests, with the last one in August 2009 against South Africa, the report added.
