Force India boss unhappy with 'agenda' against smaller Formula One teams

Force India's boss has said that the owners of Formula One and its leading teams have an 'agenda' that is causing smaller teams to go out of business.

Bob Fernley, Force India's deputy team principal, said that motor racing sport was not 'sustainable', and would have a different format in 2015. He added that Formula One is at crossroads and there is clearly an agenda.

Fernley said that two teams have been forced out, and questioned as to how many need to be forced out, before they achieve the goal they are looking for, The BBC reported.

He also believed that main shareholder, CVC, a venture capital group, and the leading teams that make up the strategy group, were trying to force the sport down a specific route.

Fernley said that they have missed an opportunity in Formula One, to make it sustainable, adding that it has passed them, and there is no point looking back.

He also believed the sport would be in a different format in 2015, which he has no idea of currently. He added that CVC and the teams they have empowered, have got some form of programme in place, because nobody would have teams going out of business.

Fernley concluded that there is a financial split that is inequitable.
