Coaching icon and former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is against the use of more technology in football and although he supports the goal-line technology, he believes that too much advancement into technology would take away a lot of the power from the referee.

Sir Alex enjoyed a spiky relationship with match officials during his 25 years at Old Trafford, but despite being a fan of goal-line technology, which is widely regarded as a positive introduction, the Scot feels that any more interference would undermine referees.

Ferguson said that people keep talking about technology and obviously the goal-line technology is one thing, but he added that he doesn't think one can introduce it for things like they're talking about –for free-kicks, yellow cards and red cards, The Mirror reported.

Ferguson believes that it becomes really difficult that, because it becomes stop-start, stop start, but he added that in terms of things like wrongful dismissals, there's a three-man panel that sits there on the red card.

But, he said that the strange part is that if one gets two yellow cards, one can't appeal against the second yellow card, which he believes is a bit unfair. He insisted that there could be two yellow cards wrongly given, and it amounts up to a sending-off.

Ferguson is of the opinion that the panel should be given an option for an appeal on a second yellow card.

Ferguson said that technology would advance, but he added that one can't have too many things that are going to be discussed on a video camera, because then it takes away a lot of the power from the referee.

Ferguson added that in that case it becomes a bit of a shambles, because the game would be repeatedly stop-start and one cannot have that. He said that it's a yes to goal-line technology, but insisted that they should leave it there.
