Johannesburg: The Football Association (FA) has revealed that the winning side of the FA Cup final's between Arsenal and Hull City on Saturday would be presented with a brand new trophy.

Silversmiths Thomas Lyte of London have reportedly made the new version of the famous trophy, which is awarded to the winners of the world's oldest knockout competition.

According to Sport24, the FA Cup trophy has only been replaced twice before, in 1911 and 1992 and the new version is an exact replica of the 1911 model.

FA general secretary Alex Horne said that it is a historic moment in the proud 143-year history of the FA Cup, adding that the current trophy is fragile and too delicate to continue to repair, so it must be retired.

However, Horne said that the current FA Cup would remain cherished and would forever be an integral part of the tournament's rich history, having been lifted by the likes of Roy Keane, Patrick Vieira, Sol Campbell, Steven Gerrard and Tony Adams.
