Chelsea football team manager Jose Mourinho has said that his squad received the most abuse on social media because they are boring, having topped the Premier League since day one.

Anti-discrimination group Kick It Out revealed that out of 1,30,000 abusive Premier League-related social media posts this term, Chelsea had the most of any club.

Mourinho, whose side enjoy a comfortable seven-point lead on top of the Premier League table, said that it's because they are boring, adding that they have been top of the league since day one and that is something people in this country don't like, the BBC reported.

Chelsea have already captured the first main domestic trophy of the season, beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in last month's Capital One Cup final, Mourinho's first trophy at the club since returning for a second spell at Stamford Bridge on a four-year contract in June 2013.

However, a recent survey found that they fared worst in the Premier League in terms of respect towards referees, to which the 52-year-old Portuguese preferred not to answer.
