A total of 17 teams from the city will compete for top honours in the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) Elite Division League which will begin from October 17.
Mumbai FC, the lone team from the city which participates in the I-League, will also be seen in action along with defending champions Air India and runners-up ONGC. Promoted outfits, Dena Bank and Karnatak Sporting Association are also in the fray and will have to rise up to the challenge as they will compete with the best clubs in the city.
The other teams in the competition include, Indian Navy, Western Railway, Central Railway, Mumbai Customs, Union Bank of India, G.M. Sports, Companeroes SC, M.S. Police, Central Bank of India, Kenkre FC, PIFA Colaba and Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF).
The opening match of the tournament will see Western Railway and Central Railway clash on Friday at 4pm at Cooperage Ground, Churchgate
