Former India cricket greats Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble and Sourav Ganguly were shocked at the death of Kolkata's 20-year old Ankit Kesri, a promising club-level cricketer, who passed away after a cardiac arrrest.

Kesri sustained a head injury during a local game post an on-field collision and passed away in a private nursing home on Monday.

After all efforts to revive an unconscious Kesri failed on field, he was rushed to a private hospital nearby. A CAB official confirmed that Kesri - who was also part of the Under-23 Bengal squad - passed away due to a cardiac arrest.

Keshri, who was in hospital since three days, showed signs of recovery, but unfortunately was declared dead in the wee hours of morning. The talented right-hander, had skippered the Bengal U-19 team in Cooch Behar Trophy and was part of the 30-member India U-19 probables sqaud for the 2014 Colts World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
Kesri also represented 'Bengal A' (U-23 side) in the CK Nayudu National Championship.
