Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has admitted that he was 'flattered' by the interest shown in him by Manchester United over the summer even though he insisted he is not interested in leaving the Spanish stars.

United boss David Moyes attempted to make the former Arsenal midfielder his first major signing after succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson, but despite a lengthy pursuit of the Spaniard, he came away disappointed and empty-handed.

According to Metro.co.uk, Fabregas admitted he was honoured and flattered to have been approached by a club like United, although he added that he is going through an amazing moment at Barcelona and feels like a important fixture of the team and thus is happy staying with them for now.

Moyes eventually managed to snap up Marouane Fellaini from Everton, before securing the major coup of Juan Mata last month, although Fabregas admitted he was surprised to see his compatriot swap Chelsea for Old Trafford as he believes Fellaini has been Chelsea's best player over the last two years.
