Selfie obsession resulted in a tragic end to a 20-year-old national steeplechase athlete's life after she accidentally drowned in a pond at SAI academy in Bhopal on Saturday evening, reported The Times of India.
National medallist Pooja Kumari who hailed from Uttarakhand was allegedly taking a selfie and slipped into a pond situated behind the cricket ground in the SAI campus.
A SAI official reportedly said that two other girls were with Kumari when the accident happened. Neither Kumari nor her friends knew how to swim and by the time the other two girls came back with some help from the SAI hostel, Kumari had drowned.
