Services snatched a thrilling 61-60 win against Indian Railways in the concluding men's Group-A league match of the Rs 5 lakh prize fund 10th Savio Cup All-India Basketball Tournament for men and women, at the Don Bosco High School basketball court, Matunga.
The win enabled Services, along with Indian Overseas Bank, to qualify from this group for the semifinal league. The armymen were well-served by Narendar who led the scoring with 19 points and Jogender with 10 points, while Harinder (16 points) and Harminder (15) did the bulk of the scoring for Railways.
Later in an inconsequential Group-B league encounter, ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation) pulled off a 55-52 win against Punjab. Meanwhile in women's completion, defending champions Southern Railway recorded a comfortable 62-52 victory against Maharashtra. Adhirai Sr with 20 points was the leading scorer for the cagers from the south while seasoned Manisha Dange almost single-handedly scored an impressive 29 points for the losing cagers.

ONGC 55 (Lavneet 27) beat Punjab 52 (Mohit Bhandari 10).
Women's: Southern Railway 62 (Adhirai Sr 20) beat Maharashtra 52 (Manisha Dange 29)
