Indian ace Sania Mirza and her Czech partner Barbora Strycova put on a spectacular show as they defeated Australian-Chinese pair of Samantha Stosur and Shuai Zhang on Friday.
Mirza-Strycova pair, seeded fourth in the tournament, took down the unseeded opponents 6-1, 6-4 to enter the third round of women's doubles tournament at Melbourne Park, reports ESPN.com
The Indo-Czech combination registered a comfortable 6-3, 6-1 win over Jocelyn Rae and Anna Smith of Great Britain in a one-sided opening round contest that lasted exactly an hour. It took them only an hour and 21 minutes to knock out Stosur-Zhang.
For the third round, Mirza-Strycova will face the winner of the match between the French-Polish team of Alize Cornet and Magda Linette and the Japanese pair of Eri Hozumi and Miyu Kato.
Mirza is looking to clinch her second consecutive Australian Open women's doubles title this year. She lifted the crown last year with Switzerland's Martina Hingis.
