Arsenal football team manager Arsene Wenger has hinted that the club's captain Thomas Vermaelen might leave the Premier League side.

Vermaelen, who played with the Belgium squad at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, has reportedly been linked with Manchester United. Wenger said that defender Vermaelen is injured but also admitted that it is a possibility that he goes, The BBC reported. Vermaelen, who joined Arsenal from Ajax in June 2009, made 14 Premier League appearances last season.

Wenger said that should Vermaelen leave, the club would find a replacement because the Belgian is an important player in their squad. He added that he was not finished in the transfer market, despite making four signings already this summer. The Frenchman has recruited Southampton defender Calum Chambers, who he described as a long-term goal, Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez, Newcastle United right-back Mathieu Debuchy and Nice goalkeeper David Ospina already, the report added.
