Ever since Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun was selected in West Zone's Under-16 team in spite of being low on performance, social media was abuzz with debates on whether it was right to select junior Tendulkar and not the record-breaker, Pranav Dhanawade, who had scored 1,000 runs in a single innings.

However, Dhanawade’s father cleared the air regarding team selection saying his son was not eligible to be inducted into the team. Prashant Dhanawade also said that certain sections of their fraternity were spreading false stories regarding Pranav’s non-selection.

But why is Pranav ineligible to be selected for West Zone? The reason is simple, the U-16 squad is picked from the MCA U-16 team, which Pranav was not a part of. Arjun, who is an all-rounder, was a part of MCA’s team and hence was eligible to be picked.

Prashant further stated that Pranav played his record-breaking knock of 1,009 after the selection trials, so the question of his induction in the team does not arise.

This puts to rest the rumours that Arjun was picked because of Tendulkar while Pranav was left out since he is a driver’s son. Prashant also said that both Arjun and Pranav are good friends and this controversy has not come between their friendship.
