After Ankit Keshri, another cricketer injured on field, condition stable but 'not out of danger'

Yet another cricketer from Kolkata, Rahul Ghosh was injured on field during a match on Tuesday.

Ghosh, a 19-year-old player of Kolkata Police cricket team was injured during a match between Bijoy Sporting and Kolkata Police during the second division of the playoff match held at Sourav Ganguly’s academy.

Fielding at cover region, Police AC's Rahul was hit below his ear after he took his eyes off to an awkward bounce during the 2nd division League match at the Videocon School of Cricket ground in Salt Lake on Tuesday morning.

The condition of Ghosh is said to be "stable but not out of danger", neurosurgeon Dr Buddhadeb Saha, who is attending to Ghosh at the Nightingale Hospital, said.

Giving a medical bulletin, medical director of Nightingale Hospital Dr Sabyasachi Sen later said: "We have not found anything in the CT Scan and MRI. There's no hemorrhage or internal injury. But we have kept him under observation in ICU. Dr Saha will give the assessment at 12 noon tomorrow." 

According to the sources in the hospital, doctors have administered a clot in the brain and Ghosh is losing consciousness from time to time. He is also failing to recognise all his relatives. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Kolkata Police (South Division), Murlidhar Sharma visited him in the hospital.

He is under observation at the critical care unit of the hospital. A medical bulletin scheduled this evening, will throw more light on his condition.

Less than 24 hours have passed since Ankit Keshri, East Bengal club's former under-19 captain died following an on-field injury.

The incident happened on Friday, during a Bengal Division 1 match between East Bengal Club and Bhawanipore Club. In the 44th over, Keshri bumped into bowler Sourabh Mondal while taking a catch. He immediately fell on the ground and lost consciousness. The right-handed batsman was rushed to a private nursing home and was undergoing treatment for three days. Eventually on Monday, he succumbed to his injuries.
