Alastair Cook’s pre-match press conference was a rather eventful one. There was so much noise — chairs being dragged, scribes chatting away to glory and all that — during the 11-minute period that the England skipper, clearly disgusted, walked out.
Journalists present in the spacious press conference room at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Khanderi, near here, could barely hear Cook. The local organisers then provided him with a dysfunctional microphone! The Q&A session, though, continued. Ten minutes into the whole affair, the loud voice of a Gujarati lady news anchor was heard. A cameraman, who was recording the interaction, had obviously got it all wrong. An irritated Cook, and the England team’s media manager, had had enough. They promptly walked out.
