Google's Nexus launch event is finally here, and the internet giant has a few things all set for rollout. We'll be covering the event live, when it begins at 9:30pm IST but, for now, here's what you can expect to see when CEO Sundar Pichai takes the stage.

Google will, for the first time, be releasing two new models of its Nexus smartphone series simultaneously. The first one, built by LG, is called the Nexus 5X, a successor to the popular Nexus 5. It's rumoured to have a 5.2-inch full-HD (1920x1080) display, a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB RAM, Adreno 418 GPU, a 12MP/5MP camera combination, and a 2700mAh battery. It also has a polycarbonate back, laser autofocus and a fingerprint scanner on the back.

The second device, coming from Huawei, will be the Nexus 6P, the larger of the two devices. It's likely to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, a 5.7-inch QHD display (2560x1440) with dual front-facing speakers, a 13MP/8MP shooter combo, a 3500mAh battery, and a fingerprint scanner as well.

Both phones will ship with Android Marshmallow, will be available in 16GB and 32GB storage variants, and will sport USB Type-C. Rumours have it that the LG Nexus 5X will be available for preorders in the US, UK, Korea, Japan, and Ireland, at a starting price of US $379.99 (approximately Rs 25,000) for the 16GB version. Considering that price tag, the 32GB variant will likely cost around US $430 (approximately Rs 28,400). The Huawei Nexus 6P prices, however, are as yet unknown.

Also on the list of new releases is Google's redesigned Chromecast, with enhancements such as customisable feeds on the home screen, improved WiFi performance and an all-new feature called ‘Fast Play’. First and foremost, the hardware is moving away from its traditional dongle shape towards one that can only be described as a blood pressure monitor pump. It will also be available in three colours; black, red, and yellow, though we're what purpose that serves when the device itself while likely be hidden, plugged into the rear of your television.

On the specifications side, the Chromecast is expected to pack improvements into its WiFi performance, with the current 802.11b/g/n wireless capability being bumped up to the newer gigabit-speed capable 802.11ac. The new addition for customised content on the home screen isn't particularly clear. It could mean anything from social media feeds to news content or updates from your favourite shows. The new feature called ‘Fast play’, is also anyone's guess, with the name hinting at the ability to stream content quicker and with reduced delays.

All will be revealed at the Google event tonight, so stick around for our live updates.
