Popular dating app Tinder, owned by global dating firm Match Group, is suing kinky app maker 3nder for trademark infringement. Tinder accuses 3nder of using an “infringing mark,” with both a name and a logo supposedly meant to remind consumers of Tinder. The company has reportedly demanded it cease operations and has also threatened in a letter to sue in London's high court.

What is surprising is that the company is suing dating app 3nder, two years after the launch. 3nder also stated that the name can be pronounced that way, but it is “optional and not an official pronunciation.”

According to a report by Venture Beat, 3nder’s London-based founder Dimo Trifonov said, “Our mission and our values could not be more distinct from those of Tinder. We have and always will put ethics and aesthetics first. Our members seek something else entirely when they come to us — to explore their sexual curiosity and date in an open-minded space. With so many sexualities and relationship structures left out of Tinder and the Match Group offerings, there is room for all of us. No one should have a monopoly on love.”

3nder has also launched a site called Tinder Wants to Kill 3nder, and is calling its users to send Tinder pictures of their socks via Twitter, using the hashtag #TinderSuckMySocks. The campaign has received support online from fans of 3nder posting their own sock-based photographs as well.
