Few iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus owners are now reporting some serious problems with their devices. The issue, coined as “touch disease” is causing broken or unresponsive screens, along with a flickering gray bar which appears at top of the screen.

According to iFixit repair advocate Julia Bluff, “This issue is widespread enough that I feel like almost every iPhone 6/6+ has a touch of it (no pun intended) and are like ticking bombs just waiting to act up,” says Jason Villmer, owner of STS Telecom—a board repair shop in Missouri. He sees phones like this several times a week.”

Replacing your screen for a new one will not fix the problem either because the problem isn’t the screen. The report points out that the problem is the two touchscreen controller chips or Touch IC chips, on the logic board inside the device.

Sadly, Apple Stores and Certified Apple Repair technicians are not equipped for the repair, and your best option will be to purchase a new iPhone.
