How easy is it to make animated film? Well, not that easy actually. A lot goes into the making of a great film: an amazing script for starters, actors and performers, cameras and other technologies, etc. And even after all that, one can't be too confident of the outcome, until it is finished.
Plotagon, an innovative new software by a Swedish start up, cuts all that film making effort into a fraction by directly recreating a script into an animated film! Intrigued?
Here's how it works:
“Plotagon is centered around writing,” it explains on their website launched in August 2013. It allows the user to take a ready script with dialogues, choose settings and characters, add actions, sound effects and music etc and voilà, your very animated film is ready, just like that!
It even lets you define the characters, pick their situations, emotions, etc. The user also has complete control of how character deliver the dialogues, their tone of voice and even lip-syncing. And even though the animation quality isn't as smooth, it is expected to be upgraded soon enough.
Although still a start up, the unique concept and technology of this software finds an admirer in the celebrated artist Stan Lee, who has created characters to be used in the software.
The software is freely available for download and compatible with regular personal computers carrying Windows as well as Macintosh. It is fast gaining popularity among fan fiction writers, and is perfect for use of ad-film makers to create storyboards as well as for documentary and independent film makers. This tutorial video is a little more descriptive with explaining how you can create your own movie in two easy steps: actually finished.
